About me -

Hello, I am Jana Kreofsky, LCSW (she/her pronouns). I provide trauma-focused therapy for individual adults and have been in this field for over 10 years. Over my career I have continuously been drawn to trauma-informed therapy and modalities. Through education and experience I have developed a deep understanding of the important role that trauma and stress responses play in our functioning. This includes our interpersonal relationships, how we feel in our bodies, our trust of self and others, and so much more. I truly love working with clients as they learn about their own stress and trauma responses, unpack intense life experiences (as they are ready), and build towards increased understanding and empowerment in all aspects of their lives.

 

 Why EMDR -

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful and effective form of treatment for trauma related symptoms, anxiety, nightmares, panic, low self esteem, uncontrollable or overwhelming anger and so much more. This has been proven with extensive research, and I have been fortunate enough to see it with my own eyes via personal and professional experience.

I have been practicing EMDR for over 6 years and am an EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) Certified Therapist. I lean heavily towards weaving IFS/parts work, Poly-vagal Theory, somatic/body-based work, psycho-education and self-compassion/acceptance throughout the EMDR process. If you know what all these terms mean, great. If not, no problem. We will learn together as I learn about you and you learn about this style of work.

EMDR requires intensive and ongoing training. Depending on your needs, EMDR can be part of your treatment, or the main focus of your treatment, and can be provided during regular ongoing sessions or during EMDR Intensives.
